Charles and I have been hard at work on MiNext since the idea really started coming together last summer. He's been writing quite profusely, and I've been working on the structural side of things. Throughout this build up phase, we've been letting our friends in on the project bit by bit. It's a labor of love and our next big collaboration, but it's been a bit slow going and lonely.1
Designers make mockups. Manufacturers create prototypes. Software companies release beta versions. These are all ways to show of concepts before fully committing resources to a final version. The Up Next column will be MiNext's way of showing off our new contributors before they make their own home on MiNext.2 Up Next will give our new contributors a chance to introduce themselves, publish a few posts, and find their voice. While they're posting in Up Next, the Editorial Board3 will be working with them in creating a new column (and a name, a logo, a banner and all types of other stuff).
